International Women’s Day is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements, whilst calling for gender equality. It has been observed since the early 1900’s and is now recognized each year on March 8. IWD is all about celebrating the strong women who inspire us. One such woman is Ann Steer, Marketing Director at N Brown (Simply Be’s parent company). We sat down with Ann to find out what International Women’s Day means to her and our business.

What barriers (if any) have you faced as a woman in becoming as successful as you are in this industry?
Noone has put barriers in my way – in fact I have had huge support from a number of great bosses I have worked for. The biggest challenge is having the confidence to step forward and try something new

Who inspires you this International Women’s Day? Let us know in the comments below.
I work in the International Acquisition Team. When I’m not working, I enjoy eating, yoga and music; I spend my time listening to music and going to see live music. I love getting glittered up and wearing 70’s style disco pants, anything silver and glittery, throw my way. To relax I like watching box sets and eating lots of chocolate.
