International Women’s Day 2018 at Simply Be – Women Are Stronger

You may have noticed – we take International Women’s Day pretty seriously here at Simply Be. We think every day is International Women’s Day so we created these Women Are Stronger T-shirts to celebrate you fabulous ladies all year round.

If you’re not already wearing yours right now you can grab one here and get 40% off using the code WOMENSDAY.

We love that other brands have joined in promoting the IWD message – here are some of our favourites from this year.

Google

Google Trends data shows that searches around gender equality are steadily rising. Google released this video to support International Women’s Day – we love it!

Barbie

Remember when Barbies were all about unrealistic measurements? Thankfully those days are behind us and there are a new set of role models in town. This week Barbie announced a new range of dolls based on modern day and historic real life female role models. The new “Shero” dolls include NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, Aviator Amelia Earhart and Chloe Kim, teenage Olympic gold medal winning snowboarder. We’re not crying. You’re crying.

McDonald’s

Such a simple idea and such a huge impact. Some people love it, some hate it, stating that McDonald’s needs to do more for its female employees than flipping its branding. But you can’t deny that it’s made a splash using its international brand status to help draw attention to International Women’s Day. Hopefully be one of many empowering steps for the brand.

Uber

Uber is celebrating its female drivers with its #DrivenWomen campaign, shining a spotlight on ladies in Asia Pacific countries who drive for a living as well as holding down families and other jobs.

There are many other fantastic campaigns going on today. Which ones impressed you the most? Tell us below or show us on our social channels.

International Acquisition Executive/Fashion, Beauty and Food enthusiast! I spend most of my time browsing online shopping websites or over-indulging in high-calorie foods (and guilty of instagramming pics of them afterwards). I also have a serious obsession with searching for the dreamy holiday destinations (Manchester really isn’t that sunny) and I aspire to go travelling.
