5 Simple Ways to Get Organized

With winter nearly over it’s time to Spring Clean your life! Here are my five tips to help you get organized.

I cannot say this enough, so I’ll say it again. Tidy-as-you-go.

It’s so quick and easy to hang your jacket up when you arrive home in the evening, or clean your glass before you head to bed at night. What’s more, it’s much less of a pain than than having to put aside some time to clean up that mess that you’ve been ignoring for the past week (or five)!

Out With the Old

Are you reading this wondering how your home got so full? It all just seems to have appeared one day and you have no idea how or why. It’s time for you to introduce semi-regular clearouts.

When going through everything it’s important to be ruthless. If you can’t remember the last time you used/wore/other the item then it goes! Sounds harsh? If you don’t stick to that rule you’ll end up keeping everything.

Trust me, you’ll feel great after your clearout and even better if your items can be recycled or donated to charity.

Stress-Free Storage

Sort your files and folders using a naming system that actually makes sense. Sure, it might feel like a chore at first, but you’ll soon know where everything is and it will be way quicker to find what you’re looking for than the inevitable frustrated search for thatfileyourenotquitesurethenameof.doc.

Meet Your New P.A

If you’re like me and have a terrible memory, you’ll find yourself having to write notes to remind yourself of everything! The problem is, paper notes are messy and too easy to loose. Plus, you then have to remember to read them!

All is not lost, though. Use Siri to easily set your self a reminder of what you need to do, when you need to do it. It might look a little strange to the passer-by in the street, but it works every time!

Plan For The (Immediate) Future

We’ve all come home after a long and tiring day to find that we haven’t got anything in for dinner.

Life is too busy for worrying about the little things, so put aside a little time at the weekend plan your meals and outfits for the week ahead. Planning in advance will free future self to concentrate on what’s important, and future self will be very thankful of that!
