What An InStyle Editor Would Wear To NYFW

We asked LaShauna, Editor of InStyle what she will be wearing to NYFW this week:

Nothing is quite like NYFW. It’s a celebration of all things style and beyond.  Every 6 months fashionistas of the city gather and put on their finest to view the latest collections from their favorite designers. As an editor, you want to look fabulous but of course, we have to be functional. Our schedules are jammed packed with back to back shows, so it’s important that we set a tone for chic fashion all while being comfortable. If it sounds impossible, it’s not!

The first thing that I would pull out would be a great pair of jeans. I mean how can you go wrong with a great pair of jeans?  You’d go for a pair that suits your personal taste as well as pair that fits like perfection. Right now, I’m a skinny leg, dark wash kind of girl. Dark denim elongates the leg and and the cut creates a streamlined look. For day, you could pair with a crisp blazer, a structured button-up, and cute lace ups or brogues.  For night, sequin is your friend! A boxy tee or embellished camisole feel festive but not overdone with the denim. A pair of pumps complete the  look.

But of course, this is one basic uniform.

Throughout the week, you may want to have basic staples handy that will perfectly mix-and-match with some statement pieces. You’d want to have of course, the jeans, button up blazer (all can be styled several ways) but also, a smart pencil skirt skirt, an LBD, a pair of knee or thigh boots, and a lady bag. The wild cards?  Well there’s already the sequin piece, but a statement necklace (to pump up any look), a clutch (to take out for evening) and one insane pair of shoes!

I spend most of my time browsing online shopping websites or over-indulging in high-calorie foods (and guilty of instagramming pics of them afterwards). I also have a serious obsession with searching for the dreamy holiday destinations (Manchester really isn’t that sunny) and I aspire to go travelling.
