With the end of the year fast approaching, we thought we’d look back on the anniversaries of music and film. We’ve pulled out looks from some of our fave girls who were reppin the 2017 trends, even back then…
Whitney Debuts as No.1 – 2nd June 1997
Whitney Houston’s much anticipated second album didn’t disappoint. It became the first album by a female artist to debut at number one and spawn four number one singles, go Whitney!
Bold sequins are pushed by retailers ever year for the party season, so dress up in this timeless piece!
Dirty Dancing debuts – 21st August 1997
Even after 30 years nobody puts baby in the corner. Millennial pink has been a key spring/summer trend of 2017 and combined with true 90s style, could it get any cuter?!
Spice girls hit the US stores – May 31 1997
Our fave girl gang became a US sensation 30 years ago! Yes 30 YEARS AGO. They had the biggest selling album of 1997 and we can’t say we’re surprised with a track like ‘Wannabe’. Scary spice was known for her crazy hair and leopard prints, a popular pattern of autumn/winter 2017. Baby spice was already supporting the girl empowerment talk.
Keeping up with the Kardashians premieres – October 14 1997
Love them or hate them they’re still a major talking point. So okay maybe the show was the best thing that happened to their style as they weren’t the style icons they are today back in the 90s. Instead we’ve chosen Kourtney’s mesh look, a spring trend that is set to be featured in spring/summer 18!
Britney has a meltdown – Feb 17 2007
So we wouldn’t advise the bald look…She may have had a minor blip but we still love you Britney! She rocked the sequin pants, the perfect ensemble for the party season.
